Starting her academic journey, Melanie completed a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN in May 2017. Prior to that, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 2016 and a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2014, establishing a strong foundation for her medical career.
Kicking off her professional career, Melanie served as a Physician Assistant at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, IL from July 2017 to March 2018. In this role, she collaborated with Dr. Kern Singh, specializing in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery. Her responsibilities encompassed a broad spectrum, from patient care and diagnoses to actively participating in minimally invasive spine surgeries. Building on her experience, Melanie transitioned to Orthopaedics of the Northshore in Skokie, IL from April 2018 to May 2023. As a Physician Assistant working alongside Dr. Steven Sclamberg, she specialized in Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery. Her versatility shone as she seamlessly navigated clinic, operating room, and hospital environments.
Melanie’s adeptness extended to first-assisting in various orthopedic surgeries, managing pre-operative and post-operative care, interpreting complex medical imaging, and ensuring patients were informed and comfortable throughout their treatment journey.
Embracing opportunities for growth, Melanie joined MR Orthopedics in July 2023. Here, she continued to refine her expertise in Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery, working as a dedicated Physician Assistant alongside Dr. Michael Maday.
